Research Center on Rural Problems

Introduction

India is an agricultural country 69% population living in rural area and they are depends on agricultural activities for their livehood 60% employment has been provided by the agricultural and allied sectors.
However Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad is established in 1958, in the rural and backward area. Eight districts were the jurisdictions of this university. Further this university divided into two universities i.e. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Swami Ramanand Tirth Marathwada University, Nanded. Therefore near about 80% students are coming from the rural area and their parent’s occupation is farming or agriculture.

But unfortunately this Marathwada region lagging behind in the development, farmer are using the traditional and old technology for farming activities, they has not sufficient knowledge and they are always facing the economical problems, thay are always under the debts. Due to the lack of marketing and financial problems, famers are unaware about the markets opportunities. They have not met the remunerative prices to their agro produces. The students (farmer’s children’s) which have not the sufficient knowledge about this situation i.e. why famers are facing such critical problems? How they will help to the parents in the farming and related activities? How they will solve the economical problems? How they will tackle the financial situation? How they will use the knowledge for the development of rural and agricultural development? There are many questions creates in the mind of teachers, professionals and the Vice-chancellor of this university, looking after these question, Former V.C. of Dr. BAMU. Prof. Vijay Pandhripande, former Register Prof. Shivaji Sangale had decided to establish the centre i.e. Research Centre on Rural Problems to find out the answer for above questions.
