About Department
Biochemistry was introduced as one of the specialization in M.Sc. Chemistry course in 1968, immediately after relocation of the department of chemistry in the new building on the campus. In 1970, an independent M. Sc. Biochemistry course was introduced. Biochemistry developed with chemistry department for almost two decades in the same building and was shifted to new extension in 1986-87.the department of chemistry was bifurcated in 1992 and an independent department of Biochemistry was established.
