About Department

M.Ed., B.Ed.-M.Ed., M. Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes are running in the Department. In the M.Ed. & B.Ed.-M.Ed. courses, Research methodology is a compulsory subject. At present a number of students are doing research in various Research areas viz., Primary education, Secondary education, higher education, evaluation, curriculum, different methods of teaching and learning, teaching models, ICT based learning modules and other fields related to education. Certificate course in life skill Education and P.G. Diploma in Education, Vocational Guidance and courier Counselling Courser are started.

History

The Post graduate course in Education of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University was started from the year 1963. In the early years M.Ed. Course was conducted at Government College of Education and Marahathwada college of Education alternately for many years. In the year 2006, the Department of Education was established in University Campus. Former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nagnath Kotapalle and Dean Dr. Ganesh Shetkar took initiative for it.

To structure the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University to be an Epitome of Excellence by creating and imparting time responsive Quality Education to address Changing Scenario, keeping Research and Development at its core, for 'Anyone' at 'Anytime' and 'Anywhere'.

  • Creating an academic ambience to realise learner’s full potential by imparting quality teacher education.
  • Preparing learner-sensitive educators with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to contribute to a better society.
  • Using appropriate teaching-learning material in the light of the global scenario.
  • Developing capacity building of Learners.
  • Understanding the local needs and equipping teachers with necessary skills.
  • Developing the Department of Education as the hub of teacher education and training globally.

M.Phil & Ph.D.(Education)

M.Phil. : 20 Students

The degree of M. Phil. shall be conferred on a candidate who has satisfied the following conditions: The candidate must have taken M. Ed. Degree with at least 55% marks and 50% for the reserve category. Candidates of this University or of any other statutory University where the grading system is prevalent he should have passed the degree in equivalent cumulative Grade Point Average.

Admission Process

Admission Process for M.Ed. is Conducted by State CET cell., Govt. of Maharashtra. Candidates allotted by the cell.

Pattern of CET

Those students who are seeking admission to M. Phil. in Education in the Department for Academic Year 2018-2019 have to go through the Departmental CET Examination. As per merit list and reservation policy decided by the Government.

Ph.D. Program (Education)

B.Ed.-M.Ed. : Three Years Course (Bachelor & Master of Education - Integrated)
  • Post Graduate degree in Social Science, Science & Humanities from a recognized university.
  • Qualifying degree percentage: Minimum 55% for open and 50% for reserved category or equivalent grade.
M.Phil. (Master of Philosophy)
  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) Post Graduate degree from a recognized university.
  • Qualifying degree percentage: Minimum 55% for open and 50% for reserved category or equivalent grade.
