About Department

In the fast changing and competitive society, it is always important to keep one update and informed. So, to stay ahead in this age of Information and Communication Technology, it is very pertinent that receiving and transmitting information may not only be flowing but may be accessible to all the world community at large and to the student community in particular in their door steps. IT Facility's main aim is to support the University's learning, teaching, research and therefore to provide efficient and effective computer services. IT Facilities provide data network, access to the Internet, the electronic mail, printing and other central services such as providing technical input in purchasing of IT as part of the central services. PCs with access to Internet and e-mail for 7*24 hours, the Electronic mail and other computing facilities for all the working hours of the university, every day and the work is still in process.

UNIC has been established and functioning from 2006. The UNIC is a complete ISP setup with advance internet servers and firewalls. The primary focus of UNIC is to provide 24*7 secure internet facility to whole university where there are more than 1500 computers. UNIC maintains the main website of the University and hosts websites of various Departments, Colleges and Centres of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University UNIC hosts various servers for providing various online services in the area of administration, admissions, examination, library, e-resources and email services and enabling research using campus agreements with state-of-the-art software providers.

Roles of UNIC

Role of University Network Information Centre

As a Tool for Administration This involves the development and the use of computer software to meet the operational and managerial needs of various administrative departments and the Library.

To ensure adequate support, the role of the UNIC can be identified as follows:

  1. Facility Management

    The UNIC manages the central computer facilities including the campus network, the central host computers, public computing facilities such as computers in the Lecture Theatres, classrooms & express terminals for public access and student terminal rooms in the UNIC. It also carries out assessment of facilities, both software and hardware, based on the needs of its users, and makes recommendations for new facilities as necessary for the enhancement of the existing facilities.

  2. Technical Services

    The UNIC provides centralised and integrated technical services on a university-wide basis including the provision of consultation and advice on the use of University computer facilities. It evaluates suitable equipment and software so that it can keep pace with developing technology in order to better serve the University community.

  3. Information Services

    The UNIC keeps updated information regarding currently available computing equipment and software, and provides timely information to its users in the form of user's guides, newsletters, training courses, seminars, forums, etc. It is also responsible for developing electronic information services within the University.

  4. Administrative Data Processing Systems

    The UNIC is responsible for the provision of infrastructure and technical support for the maintenance of all electronic data processing systems used in the various administrative offices and departments.

  5. E-Samarth Implementation(E-Governance)

Dear Readers,

We, the UNIC, University Network and Information Centre, welcomes the fascinating world of Technology which brings the world on the fingertips and in living room of an individuals.

In the current era, where technology is rapidly evolving, education has also taken the support of ICT and now offers convenient ways to help increase the knowledge, education and literacy status of students. E-learning platform provides anywhere, anytime easy access for upgradation of knowledge and skills. It provides a platform wherein the individual gets a customized package related to key thematic areas, through a self-guided process.

ICT inspired me to share my humble participation to witness the ‘Future Vision-2020’ with the vision sight especially smarter university administration, along with traditional and educational system. Our education systems are one of the great enduring achievements of the century. They were designed to prepare youngster for success in a growing industrial economy and they did their job well. But the 21st century services-and-knowledge-based economy has altered the panorama and it requires different skills and ways of learning.

The Institutions of Higher Education, particularly in India, are faced with the dual challenge of not only providing high quality education but also managing all aspects of a University in a way that meets the expectations of all stakeholders. Students want access to learning tools and a great experience, faculty needs academic support that enhances their classroom teaching and parents want their children to succeed academically as a restoration of their faith in an Institution.

If we honestly hope to help our youngster to achieve their potential and realize the potential of a smarter planet then University itself will have to get a lot smarter. UNIC is taking initiatives to provide the technology oriented with knowledge based services to the university stakeholders such as Secure High Speed Internet to the students and researchers, globally available rich content on the Internet clouds, Smart classrooms, web based software development as per need of administration, Development of university web site and web portal and many more The in-house developed Software’s we managed in university Data Centre, Virtual Classrooms be implemented soon which can help us to impart the quality education with rich content to the youngsters university from all parts of the university across the globe.

Steps for content uploading on BAMU website:

  • Send a request forwarded by Head of the Department/Principal of the College to the Director, UNIC through BAMU domain email ID followed by a written request alongwith hardcopy and softcopy on CD. Hosting services are available on Linux Server & windows for with ASP.NET & SQL Server with PHP support & My SQL Database.
Payment Gateway

UNIC has a payment gateway from bank of Maharashtra for the various online applications designed for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University

University E-mail

UNIC is also providing mail service for the staff members, as well as for the students. For this respect the mail service can be access through following webisites. Access email through web: www.bamu.net,www.bamu.ac.in

Email facility is available for all faculty members, Research Scholars and administrative staff (designation based) of the University for their Research and official communications.

Currently more than 2300 Email accounts have been running on University Servers and more than 10000 email accounts are running for College Faculty, Students and Staff on Google server.

Instructions for Creating E mail ID :

Download Email Registration Form, Submit duly filled in form forwarded by Head of the Department to the Director, UNIC. However, research scholars are required to get their forms verified from their supervisor as well. Email User ID & Password is provided to the applicant as per the practice followed.

Steps for Resetting Password

Send a written request to the Director, UNIC through proper channel. New Email Password is provided to the applicant as per the practice followed.

Campus Internet Access

Campus-wide network has been established and functioning from 2006. Internet Service set up has been established in the Department Of Computer Science And IT. This cell has taken active participation in the Establishment of Campus-wide Network and Internet Services at University's campus. At present, this cell is engaged in the Maintenance hardware and services viz. HTTP, Web, and Mail. As well as support to network users.

Campus-wide computer network of around nodes has been established in the Dr. B. A. M. University campus at Aurangabad. 18 building in the campus are connected using Fiber optic backbone. While departmental LANs (in-door connectivity) of switched 100 MBPS is on CAT-V UTP cable. Structured cabling system is adopted for better performance. 18 Network switches installed in the various departmental buildings. A layer-3 enterprise class switch with both fiber and copper ports is located at the Internet Center. The work of installation of campus wide network was awarded as a project to a Kerala based company. At present DAX servers at UNIC works as Primary DNS, Web, Mail and other server is configured as secondary DNS and Proxy server. E-mail/ Web surfing/download facilities are available to users community spread around the campus.

  • Centralized Store management System deals with single, central or team control. Basic purpose is monitaring inventory decisions, such as stock levels, orders, and distribution, across all branches or locations of a University.
  • Centralized view of all items in University at a glance is possible through Admin Dashboard it covers listing and stock positions of various items such as stationary,chemicals,glassware,furniture,plumbing, electrical etc.Vendor ,budget,location master list for Entire University is available at a glance. It also spans over stores at Subcampus Dharashiv.
  • Individual Store Keepers has their dashboard considering their department/section stock positions they can manage their various daily transactions such as requirement(indent),Item Issue ,purchase order,bills ,vendor item delivery .
  • Main core part of inventory is stock register for each item is generated item wise also at year end as a whole. The budget reports related to bills, Provision watch register are also availed. Daily reports for requirement (indent), issue for various sections, purchase orders, bills, and delivery challan are generated.
