Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University started the Department of Printing Technology & Graphic Arts in September, 2009. The then Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nagnath Kottapalle was in support to promoting professional education to generate employability for the students and youngsters in Marathwada Region. The basic idea behind starting this new department was to create employability in very fastly spreading printing, packaging and graphics field. Still in India, there is less number of qualified technocrats working in printing and packaging field. So, there is a huge number of manpower that needs to be filled in this sector, which is properly educated, trained and motivated to make career in the same.
The department inauguration function was graced by the Police Commissioner Mr. Shrikat Savarkar, Director of BCUD Dr. A.G. Khan, Management Council member Mr. Bhausaheb Rajale, Head of Department of Journalism & Mass Communication Dr. Sudhir Gavhane on 19th September, 2009. There were many printers and students present for this function from the city and nearby area.
The printing qualified technocrats can join Publishing houses under central and State Government, Printing Presses under Central and State government, Commercial printing presses doing Offset, Packaging printing processes such as Flexography, Gravure and Screen printing, Publishing houses in private sector, Pre-press solution for printing Industry, Designing and digital printing, Security printing, Software solution for print industry, Electronic publishing, Color management solution, Packaging, Print finishing and converting, Machine manufacturing /service, Marketing/management executive, Research and development, Total quality control, etc.
The department conducts many common workshops and seminars with Aurangabad Mudrak Sangh (AMS) to have sharing and spread of new technologies to the students and printers affiliated to Aurangabad Mudrak Sangh(AMS). The Department and AMS actively co-conduct the activities to boost every stakeholder in the field. Presently, Mr. Parag Hase is working as Assistant Professor and Head of Department of Printing Technology & Graphic Arts.
