About Us

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is the constant source of inspiration of the people of India, specially the vast toiling and suffering masses. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar did the struggle against all the socio-cultural, economic and political forces throughout of his life. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar the spectrum of relentless struggles against oppression and injustice and built up building of a new social system based on everlasting human values.

There is a great need to acquire imbibe and enrich the teachers, students as well as the concerned citizens of India with his vision of nation and the work involve them in research studies, field-work, field work based on extension service programmes, activities and orient or refresh them to contribute towards making India a healthy Nation. The UGC had given the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Center for Research and Development In under the 10^th and 11^th plan from 2009.

Vision and Mission

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, M.Phule, Savitribai Phule, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Sayajirao Gaikwad, Tukdoji Maharaj contributed to change the society and tried to establish the equality among the people. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has given new face to Indian society and implemented the thoughts of all reformers with his vision and thinking. In Maharashtra developed and enriched the theory and practice of Dr. Ambedkar thought as “Ambedkarism”, Ambedkarism is voice of socio-economic and political exploited people. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Centre has been contributing to develop Ambedkarism as cementing force among the divided people of India.

In order study and understand theory and practice of Ambedkarism in contemporary Maharashtra and elsewhere to establish links between academicians leaders, activists, government official, judicial Constitutional experts and students as well as group involved in social transformation. The centre plays the role and acts as ‘Liaison and resource centre.

Objectives

The Major objectives of the Centre are envisaged which are given below.

a)The understand Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideas/through philosophy and emancipator movements as well as to study the relevance of them.

b)To undertake research in areas relating to freeing the oppressed people thought various ways, policies and programmes , mainly Reservation policy initiated first in India during 1902 by Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj and them followed by Govt. of India .Post –metric scholarship scheme (initiated during 1945) abolition of unsociability practice , discrimination , distribution of surplus land and enactment of legislations etc. and the movement as well as their impact on Dalits and Non-Dalits.

c)To undertake research to know the impact of constitution of India on the life of people of India, especially in the areas of Social justice.

d)To build Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Centre for Research and Development , a resource centre (Library) of national international level wherein all works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and related studies ,literature for students , Scholars, administration and policy makers as well as studies done on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the people who have came under his influences.

e)To create pedagogy for the toiling people and administrations by the centre which will also include the collection of rare documents, films, Audio –Films , Video sources relating to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar tuning all with his vision of India.

Programmes and Activities Proposed

The Centre will seek to acquaint young generation with philosophy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and his contemporary relevance. Therefore is seeks to pursue the following programmes and activities derived from main aims objectives of proposal mentioned earlier.

i) To set up resource centre for students ,teachers ,scholars and policy makers as well as administrators with its library high tech. facilities and resource persons so that as increasing number and people become acquainted with Ambedkarian ideas and principles .

ii) To organize Seminars, work-shops, Lecturer-series, on some identified themes, issued, printed material of these lectures and deliberations will be placed in the library for the users.

iii) To conduct field-work and action programmes on the basis of Ambedkarian course of actions, values.

iv) To conduct orientation, training programmes

v) To conduct full-time, part-time courses (Diploma, Certificate) for students. Short-term courses of 3 to 6 months.

vi) To conduct Research by M.Phil/Ph.D. students, other scholars both on life and work of Dr. Ambedkar impact of measures and legislations on weaker sections.

vii) To conduct action –oriented research.

viii) To explore social mobility among the Dalits and impact of legislations on them.

ix) To conduct critical inquiry of the Dis-course between Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi.

x) Centre will publish articles, project, research papers, Seminar proceedings etc.

xi) The centre will provide space for voice of Dalit women in research and other activities of the centre.

xii) The centre will act National/International collaborative comparative centre and will provide the facilities to do so.

xiii) The centre will provide leadership, legal and social guidance to the needy and it will not be meant for providing employment, jobs.

xiv) To undertake such other activities and endeavors as would be considered suitable for furtherance of aims and objectives of the centre.

Lecture Series:-

• “Economic Thought of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” on 27^th December 2018. Lectures Delivered by Dr. Vijaykumar Wavale, Associate Professor in Economics, Nasik, and Dr. Bharat Kadam, Deputy Collector, Aurangabad.
• “Human Rights and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” on 4^th January 2019. Lectures Delivered by Dr. Shriram Nikam, Professor (Rtd)in Political Science, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Dr. Umesh Bagade, Professor in History, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

Project:-

The center is conducting the research work in the title “Socio-Economic Status of Slum dwellers in Aurangabad City.” The fifteen students have selected for collect the interview data.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University awarded the fellowship to the M. Phil and Ph. D. Students, through Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Center.
