About the Model College, Ghansawangi

The Government of India has been actively promoting the expansion of Higher Educational Facilities to achieve a commendable Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Higher Education. This college benefits from financial assistance provided by both the Central and State Governments.

The Model College, Ghansawangi, established in the academic year 2011-12, is a constituent college of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Its primary objective is to enhance access to degree courses in Educationally Backward Districts (EBDs) of the country, thereby promoting expansion in higher education with inclusion, equity, and quality. This college aspires to be recognized among the top educational institutes in Maharashtra, striving to develop technologically skilled graduates who meet the current demands of industries. Students joining the Model College, Ghansawangi, can anticipate an enriching experience of learning and research-based projects. Graduates from this constituent college are expected not only to secure employment but also to become job providers.

The Model College holds the unique distinction of being the first in Maharashtra to implement its academic programs with a completely new curriculum pattern aligned with I.I.T. and international standards. The college offers Honors degree programs under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. The Arts Stream offers (B.A. Honors (Marathi), B.A. Honors (Hindi), B.A. Honors (English), B.A. Honors (Economics), B.A. Honors (Psychology), B.A. Honors (Sociology)). The Commerce stream offers (B.Com Honors (Commerce)), and the Science stream includes B.Sc Honors (Computer Science), B.Sc Honors (Biotechnology), and B.Sc Honors (Biochemistry). The curriculum for each course comprises 180 credits, encompassing core, supportive, and applied groups.
