About Department
Department of Journalism was established on 23rd Aug. 1973. In the Beginning Dept. was headed by eminent Journalist and renowned scholar Mr. S.M. Garge. Lender to his able leadership the Department started flourishing from the beginning itself. Later on department was headed by Dr. Y.M. Pathan, Dr. S.P. Pawar, Dr. V.L. Dharurkar and Prof. S.B. Puri subsequently. In 1979 department was assisted by UGC in the Fifth 5 year plan. Further the department was assisted by UGC in the Fifth 5 year plan. Further the department received one Reader and two Lecturers posts. Since the inception of the department there were two other posts, one is to cum technical assistant and other one as Instructor. Mr. Sukhram Hiwarale whose post was Tutor cum Technical Assistant was upgraded as Lecturer. The post of instructor held by Mr. Sudhir Gavhane for two ears is vacant after his selection as lecturer. After death of Sukram Hiwarale the post of Tutor come Technical asst. also vacant. At present there are two selected Readers, one promoted Reader and one post of Lecturer
